I was referred to as an Instagram expert before I called myself one. Once I understood the power of the platform, I began making some tweaks with how I posted and, once I really understood how much engagement I could get per post and how Instagram’s algorithm worked, I grew my following by over 1700 people in just over 2 months. I began teaching others, I created a course with over 30 students, and I now have a Facebook group with over 700 people who I coach and consult on Instagram every day. That’s why I wanted to share this information. Here are some common myths behind Instagram that I’d like to address in order to help you understand why your business could be seriously missing out if you are not using it:
1. “My product or service is too boring or not the right fit for Instagram”
Visual products definitely do extremely well on Instagram, but every product has a story behind it. If you use Instagram as the story-telling platform that it is, your product or service has a place to be present and profitable as well.
2. “It’s too tough to keep track of my IG analytics”
I get it. It used to be really tough to keep track of your Instagram activity and followers and so many people need that, considering the technology that’s available to them on other platforms. The cool thing is, Instagram launched Instagram Analytics in 2016 and revealed Instagram Business Profiles, which now shows businesses the most popular times and days that followers are browsing Instagram, insights on post impressions, and detailed stats on demographics. Pretty cool stuff!
3. “Getting traffic to convert from my IG account to my website or landing page is nearly impossible”
Okay, but you could say the same for Facebook. Yes, really. With Instagram stories, Lives, and 60-second video postings available, it’s all up to you and how great or lousy your content and call to action is. I’m just keeping it real, here.
If you are doing the right kind of market research, connecting with people organically, and you have a SOLUTION to someone’s PROBLEM, you will get the people who need your super awesome and informative thing to “Click the link” in your bio.
Those are the top three reasons why people don’t use Instagram. I have helped doctors, lawyers, and even life insurance and mortgage professionals realize that they have the content for Instagram and encouraged them to start using it. Tell your story, share the visual aspects of your business, and you will find this platform as a great way to attract your ideal client.
